When I founded Kerr Ingram in 1988 I wanted the company to be different from and, frankly, better than other executive search consultancies operating in the UK market. I did not want to grow a huge business operating across all sectors, because I knew that the only way to provide a genuinely well-informed and highly professional service was to specialise in just one sector.
By concentrating exclusively on the property sector for the past twenty years, I have been able to get to know the industry exceptionally well. This not only informs the all-important identification of the best performers, it is also crucial to the interview and reporting process. Unlike other professions, property specialists often have the same basic training and qualifications, but differ vastly in skill base, ability, depth of knowledge, creative drive, contacts and industry standing. By knowing the sector so well, I understand fully how to select the very best, and most appropriate, candidates for any given role.
